The Forensic Recovery and Resettlement Service, based at St. Andrews Court, West Bromwich, provides specialist, recovery-focused accommodation and support for adult male prison leavers and individuals transitioning from forensic services who have complex mental health needs.
The service provides a structured pathway from custody and forensic settings into safe and sustainable community living, supporting individuals to address the factors that contribute to offending, manage mental health and risk, develop independence and build the skills and resilience required to sustain successful resettlement.
Working collaboratively with Probation, mental health services, local authorities, housing providers and wider criminal justice partners, the service provides coordinated support around each individual’s identified risks, needs and strengths. This includes personalised recovery planning, risk management, offending-related interventions, relapse prevention, tenancy sustainment, meaningful activity and preparation for move-on.
The service is designed to deliver clear outcomes for individuals and the wider system, including reduced reoffending, improved mental health and wellbeing, reduced risk, increased engagement with community services, improved accommodation stability and progression towards greater independence.
By providing the right level of specialist support at the right point in an individual’s journey, the service aims to reduce reliance on costly institutional and statutory provision, prevent placement breakdown and support safe and sustainable transitions into the community. It therefore provides a cost-effective, preventative and outcomes-focused model of forensic resettlement, contributing to wider West Midlands priorities around reducing reoffending, improving health inequalities, reducing demand on acute services and supporting people to lead safer, more independent lives.
